Rain Shield for Single-Module Akuvox Door Stations

The Akuvox E12 rain cover is a surface-mount rain shield for the Akuvox E12S, E12W and E12N door stations. It is a small part with a disproportionate effect on how long an outdoor door station lasts: most stations are rated IP65, which covers driven rain, but a shield keeps the majority of the water off the seals in the first place rather than relying on them.

• Keeps water off the panel — A door station's weak points are its microphone port, its card reader window and the seam around its buttons. A shield stops rain running down the wall and across all three, which is where most water ingress on an outdoor station actually starts.
• Protects the camera image — It also shades the lens. Droplets sitting on the cover glass turn a caller into a blur, and direct low sun straight into the lens washes the picture out entirely — a hood fixes both.
• Galvanised steel construction — Formed in Galvanised steel, matched to the station's own finish so the assembly still looks deliberate rather than patched.
• Sized for a single module — Made for the Akuvox E12S, E12W and E12N door stations. The shield has to match the panel width exactly or it either leaves an edge exposed or fouls the buttons.
• Dimensions — 153 × 74 × 51 mm, finished in black.

Where It Fits

Fit one to any door station that is not already under a decent eave or porch roof. It is inexpensive, it takes minutes at install time, and replacing a water-damaged door station costs many times more. On a west or weather-facing entrance, treat it as required rather than optional.
