Hikvision DS-2CD2T66G2H-4I — 6MP DarkFighter AcuSense Fixed Bullet Camera with 80 m IR & IK10 Vandal Housing

The Hikvision DS-2CD2T66G2H-4I is a 6 MP AcuSense fixed bullet from Hikvision's Pro Series — a dependable choice for commercial and residential perimeters that call for long-range true monochrome night vision and accurate human-and-vehicle classification without stepping up to DeepinView pricing. Its 1/1.8" progressive CMOS paired with DarkFighter ultra-low-light processing produces clean footage down to just 0.003 lux, and once light falls below that threshold the 80 m Smart IR illuminator takes over — among the longest IR distances anywhere in Hikvision's 6 MP line-up. AcuSense H/V classification screens out false triggers from animals, foliage and rain, so your NVR only sends notifications for genuine people and vehicles. Choose a 2.8 mm wide-angle or 4 mm narrower-view lens, in White or Black, with a 3-year Australian warranty.

Choose Your Lens — 2.8 mm Wide Angle or 4 mm Narrower View

The body and 6 MP DarkFighter sensor are identical — the choice is simply which focal length fits your scene. The 2.8 mm wide-angle takes in a larger area at shorter effective range; the 4 mm narrower-view trades frame width for extra detail at longer distances. Both are F1.6 fixed-focus and carry the same built-in 80 m IR illuminator.

Lens Comparison — 2.8 mm vs 4 mm

2.8 mm Wide Angle (White SKU: DS-2CD2T66G2H-4I · Black SKU: DS-2CD2T66G2H-4I-BLK) Horizontal FOV ~101° · Vertical ~55° · Diagonal ~122°. Suits entry doors, garages, small yards, driveways up to ~10 m and wall-mounted corner positions watching a broad approach. Wider view, with less detail at distance.
4 mm Narrower View (White SKU: DS-2CD2T66G2H-4I-4MM) Horizontal FOV ~87° · Vertical ~46° · Diagonal ~105°. Suits longer driveways, side fences, boundary lines, car parks and commercial forecourts — the added reach delivers recognisable faces and plates at 10-25 m, where the 2.8 mm would only capture a figure in frame.

Rule of thumb: for targets inside ~8 m where broad coverage matters, choose the 2.8 mm. For targets 8-25 m out where identification-level detail is the goal, choose the 4 mm. If in doubt, take the 2.8 mm — 6 MP footage leaves plenty of room to crop in.

What Makes This Camera Worth Its Price

1/1.8" Sensor + DarkFighter Ultra-Low-Light

The oversized 1/1.8" progressive CMOS (compared with 1/2.8" on entry-level models) gathers more light per pixel, giving a brighter night image with cleaner shadows and lower noise. DarkFighter processing keeps colour going down to 0.003 lux before IR takes over.

80 m Smart IR — One of the Longest in Hikvision 6 MP

80 metres of IR with Smart IR auto-adjusting both intensity and angle. That reach matters on long rural driveways, big commercial forecourts and open-yard perimeters, where 30-40 m IR cameras leave the far end in darkness.

120 dB True WDR

Genuine hardware WDR rather than a digital approximation — it copes with classic Australian trouble scenes: a sunlit garage door against a dark interior, a driveway facing the afternoon sun, or a verandah under heavy backlight. Bright and dark areas both stay readable.

AcuSense — Human / Vehicle Classification

On-camera deep learning suppresses false alarms from animals, blowing leaves, rain and headlight glare. The NVR is only alerted when the camera genuinely sees a person or vehicle, cutting phantom notifications dramatically.

IK10 Vandal-Proof + IP67 Weatherproof

A metal housing rated for 20-joule impacts (IK10) with full dust-tight and immersion protection (IP67). Fit for wall mounts within arm's reach at commercial sites, and for outdoor exposure to rain, dust and direct sun.

H.265+ Smart Compression

Cuts bandwidth and storage by roughly 50 % versus plain H.265, and up to 75 % versus H.264. A 6 MP stream at ~25 fps runs about 4-6 Mbps with H.265+, so a 4 TB drive stores around 30-45 days from 4 cameras.

Where This Camera Belongs

Residential Driveways & Front Yards

The 4 mm variant spans a typical Australian suburban driveway from front door to street, with number plates readable at 10-15 m. The 80 m IR eliminates the shadow zone at the kerb that 30 m IR cameras leave behind.

Commercial Forecourts, Loading Docks

The long-range 4 mm option with 80 m IR reads plates and identifies drivers at the far end of a loading bay, while lighting enough of the yard to track vehicle movement across the frame.

Rural Properties & Farm Yards

The 80 m IR reach is what makes rural coverage possible — one house-corner mount can watch the driveway right out to the gate, and 6 MP resolution keeps faces readable on approach.

Warehouse & Industrial Perimeter

The IK10 housing survives knocks from forklifts, pallet racking and machinery, and AcuSense classification stops the NVR waking every time a fork truck moves through the yard.

Body Corp / Strata Common Areas

The black finish sits discreetly on modern architectural facades; white suits older render and weatherboard. Vandal rating allows accessible ground-floor mounting near common entries.

Retail & Hospitality Exteriors

The 2.8 mm wide-angle captures a shopfront plus the full footpath in a single frame, with AcuSense separating passing foot traffic from genuine approaches so after-hours activity gets flagged.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the 2.8 mm and 4 mm lens?
The 2.8 mm sees wider — 101° horizontal FOV. The 4 mm frames tighter at 87° horizontal FOV, so each pixel covers less scene and detail at 10-25 m improves. Sensor, IR range and AcuSense AI are identical on both.

Why is Black only offered in 2.8 mm?
Hikvision produces the black finish only as the 2.8 mm SKU (DS-2CD2T66G2H-4I-BLK). If you need a 4 mm camera in black, there are alternative black-finish Hikvision bullets in the same 6 MP range that may fit the requirement.

Does it need a special PoE switch?
No — it's PoE 802.3af Class 3 (max ~8 W), so any standard Hikvision NVR PoE port or generic 802.3af switch will power it. It also accepts 12 VDC for legacy or off-grid setups.

Does AcuSense really cut false alarms?
Yes — a typical reduction is 80-90 % compared with a motion-only camera. Targets are classified as human, vehicle or "other" before any alarm fires, so rain, foliage, insects, animals and passing headlights are filtered out.

What's the actual IR range in practice?
Hikvision's 80 m rating assumes ideal conditions (dark sky, no ambient reflection). In a real Australian suburban setting with some street glow, plan on 50-70 m of usable IR — still among the longer distances in the 6 MP class at this level.

Can I integrate with a non-Hikvision VMS?
Yes — the camera supports ONVIF Profile S, G and T plus RTSP, and works with Milestone XProtect, Genetec, Exacq, Immix and most other VMS platforms used in Australia. Full AcuSense metadata indexing, however, is only available on Hikvision NVRs.
