TP-Link VIGI C440 (2.8 mm) — 4MP Full-Colour Turret with Active Defence

The VIGI C440 is a full-colour turret that keeps recording in colour right through the night, using spotlight LEDs instead of switching to black-and-white infrared. That matters when it comes time to describe someone: clothing colour, vehicle colour and other identifying detail survive in the footage. The 4MP sensor (2560×1440) gives a solid step up in detail over 1080p, and the 2.8 mm lens takes in a wide view, so one camera covers a porch, garage or small shop floor. Add a sound-and-light alarm, two-way audio and on-camera detection rules, and it does more than watch — it responds. Power comes over PoE or 12V DC, whichever suits the install.

Core Technology

• Full-colour night vision — Spotlight LEDs keep the scene lit and the image in colour 24/7, preserving the identifying details that infrared footage throws away.
• 4MP detail through a wide lens — 2560×1440 resolution through a 2.8 mm lens covers an enclosed area corner-to-corner while keeping enough pixel density for faces at close range.
• Active Defence alarm — When a detection rule trips, the camera fires a sound and light alarm on the spot — often enough to move an intruder on before anything happens.
• Two-way audio — A built-in mic and speaker record what is said near the camera and let you speak through it from the app — greet a courier or challenge a stranger.
• Smart Detection rules — Line crossing, area intrusion and camera tamper alerts tell you the moment a boundary is crossed rather than after the fact.
• Flexible power and storage — Run it on PoE (802.3af) or 12V DC, record to a VIGI NVR or the on-board microSD slot, and manage everything from the VIGI app.

Where It Fits

Well suited to porches, patios, garages, small shops and side entries where wide coverage and a visible deterrent count. If your target area is further out — a driveway or approach — take the 4 mm version of the C440 instead.
