Ten 8MP 4K Full-Colour Turrets on a 16-Channel PoE+ Recorder
A serious 4K system for commercial premises, warehouses and large homes — ten VIGI InSight S485 turrets on a 16-channel recorder, with six spare channels left for growth. Each camera records 8MP (3840×2160) through a bright F1.6 lens with a 111.4° field of view, detects people out to 85 m, and holds full colour at night down to 0 lux with white light. The NVR2016H-16MP powers all ten cameras from its built-in PoE+ ports and takes two drives up to 16 TB each. Resolution this high asks more of storage, so size the drive to your retention: 4 TB gives roughly 8 days continuous, 16 TB about 34 days — and motion-based recording roughly doubles each figure, out to around 136 days on a full 32 TB fit-out.
What’s in the Kit
| 10 × Cameras |
VIGI InSight S485 (2.8mm) — 8MP 4K full-colour turret, F1.6 lens, 24/7 colour night vision, human and vehicle AI, Active Defense, two-way audio, 120 dB WDR, IP67. |
| 1 × Recorder |
VIGI NVR2016H-16MP — 16-channel 4K NVR, 16 built-in PoE+ ports (140 W total), 2 × SATA bays up to 16 TB each, 4K HDMI plus VGA, H.265+. Ten channels used, six spare. |
| Hard drive |
Not included — two SATA bays take surveillance-grade drives up to 16 TB each (32 TB total), sized to the retention you need. |
| Power |
The recorder's built-in PoE+ ports power all ten cameras over a single Cat6 cable each — no separate switch or camera-end power supplies. |
| Cabling |
Network cabling is run on site and is not included; pre-made Cat6 patch leads are available separately. |
| Mounting |
Each camera includes mounting hardware, screws and waterproof cable gaskets; the NVR ships with power adapter, mouse, HDD cables and quick start guide. |
What Makes This Kit
-
4K detail that holds up — 8MP resolution at 25 fps with an F1.6 lens and 111.4° view — wide coverage per camera with an 85 m detection range, so fewer blind spots and more usable frames.
-
Full colour at 0 lux — Four white-light and four IR LEDs reach 30 m, keeping night footage in colour when it counts and falling back to Smart IR for discreet monitoring.
-
AI-triggered Active Defense — Human and vehicle classification drives people and vehicle analytics, and can trigger white-light flashing with an audible warning the moment someone crosses a line.
-
Room to grow to 16 cameras — Ten of the recorder's 16 PoE+ channels are used, leaving six spare ports inside the 140 W budget — add cameras later without touching the head end.
-
Bandwidth and storage for 4K — 320 Mbps incoming bandwidth, H.265+ compression and dual 16 TB SATA bays (plus eSATA) handle ten 8MP streams with retention out to months, not days.
-
Commercial-grade plumbing — Gigabit uplink, independent 4K HDMI and VGA outputs, 16-channel synchronous playback, ONVIF Profile S and RTSP — plus free remote viewing on the VIGI app.
Where It Fits
Our pick where footage may end up as evidence — car parks, loading docks, retail floors and large lots that need identification-grade 4K, not just a record that something happened. The six spare PoE+ channels make it the right buy if the site will grow; if 5MP is enough, the 8-camera kit saves real money.
